Fierce battle in the auction
There was a battle between Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to buy Pant from the very beginning. As soon as the bid reached 11.50 crores, Sunrisers Hyderabad also joined the race. After this, a tough competition was seen between Lucknow and Hyderabad for Pant. Both the teams wanted to include him in their team at any cost.
Lucknow bid 20.75 crores and it seemed that Pant would become Lucknow’s at this price. But then Delhi Capitals used the Right to Match (RTM) card. After this, Lucknow made a huge bid of Rs 27 crore. On this, Delhi refused to bid further. In this way Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history.
