Bad news for YouTube TV subscribers, Google has announced that starting in January, the price of the base plan will increase from $73 to $83 per month. That means you’ll have to shell out an extra $10 every month to enjoy your favorite shows and movies on YouTube TV.
Why the hike?
YouTube TV says that the price increase is necessary to cover rising content costs and to maintain the quality of the service. In other words, they need to pay more for all the shows and movies they offer, and they want to keep improving the service for you. It’s like when your favorite restaurant raises their prices because the cost of ingredients has gone up.
Comparing with Hulu Plus Live TV
With the new price hike, YouTube TV now costs the same as Hulu Plus Live TV. However, Hulu’s plan includes additional perks like Disney Plus (with ads), Hulu (with ads), and ESPN Plus. So, for a similar price, you get more with Hulu.
Rising cost of entertainment
It’s no secret that everything is getting more expensive these days, and entertainment is no exception. YouTube TV is just one example of this trend. As the cost of producing and acquiring content continues to rise, we can expect to see more price increases for streaming services in the future.
